Welcome to Fiona Henderson School of Dance

I couldn’t recommend FHSD highly enough.  The school offers opportunities for children and teenagers with benefits beyond learning to dance.  Building confidence, team-working skills, a sense of belonging, inclusion, friendship as well as excellent dance tuition. The shows, exams, and competitions are the highlights but in our experience the pupils benefit from regular attendance and are nurtured by caring teachers who understand and foster good relations between all their pupils, as well as preparing them for individual success.  My daughter has been a member since the age of 3, and she is now 14.  FHSD is a big part of her life and is definitely the best thing we ever did for her. 

"My son really wanted to try street dance but he was shy and self conscious and spent the first few sessions on my knee or in the corner just watching, gradually his dance teacher got him involved and recently ( 6 months or so after starting) he did his first dance show!"

Having both been a pupil and a teacher at FHSD, I couldn't recommend this school highly enough. Having now moved on to study at The Scottish School of Contemporary Dance full time, I have been given brilliant foundations from Fiona and her other teachers, and a second family with it.

My daughter started her dance classes in FHSD four years ago. She was a timid 8 year old girl back then and attending FHSD dance classes has helped her grow so much confidence and improve her dance skills greatly. The highlight for my daughter is performing in the shows. I would have never thought she would have been able to dance in front of a big audience with so much composure.

My daughter's confidence has grown especially due to the amazing stage show productions put on yearly at the Eastgate theatre, I still don't know how the teachers achieve this, but it is their hard work dedication and the teachers’ passion for what they do that makes it all possible. You can just tell everyone enjoys it from the smiles on the stage.
